ScarAway Review:

ScarAway reviews done by our research staff has found that ScarAway is marketed to help diminish the appearance of old and new scars, burn scars, surgery scars and keloid scars. The manufacturer states that ScarAway can be worn for up to 23 hours and last for up to 7 days. Using ScarAway silicone sheets may not be as sanitary as using other scar treatment products that are applied to the skin directly. Using a scar sheet may allow for dirt and debris to stick to the scar sheet and could cause irritation.

Our review staff has found that many customers that used ScarAway had problems with the silicone sheet staying on the skin. The edges would curl up and loosen the sheet away from the skin. Also, because the ScarAway sheets come in one size it may not be easy to use on larger scars. Our staff feels that there are others scar treatment products on the market that may work better than ScarAway.

Egyptian Magic Review:

Egyptian Magic reviews done by our research staff has found that Egyptian Magic uses all-natural ingredients and can be used on all types of scars, including keloid scars. Egyptian Magic comes in a 4.0 oz jar and is a gel based product. However, with no silicone used as part of its ingredients, many customers felt that it showed the same results as if they had used Vaseline. Many customers that used Egyptian Magic did not see ANY positive results in helping to heal their scars. Egyptian Magic does work well as a moisturizer but does very little as a scar treatment product.

The manufacturer of Egyptian Magic does not state how soon before results will show but states that there is no expiration date on the product itself. Our staff feels that Egyptian Magic may not be the best choice in a scar treatment product but will help to moisturize the skin. Egyptian Magic has been formulated for all skin types, but does not contain any silicone to help in the healing process.

Our research staff has concluded that Egyptian Magic may work well at moisturizing the skin, but has does very little for many customers at helping to reduce the appearance of scars. Our review staff has compared Egyptian Magic to other scar treatment products on the market and found that there are others that use 100% silicone and help reduce the appearance of scars in just 90 days.

Biodermis Silicone Sheet Review:

Biodermis Silicone Sheet reviews done by our research staff has found that Biodermis Silicone Sheet is applied directly to the scar to help reduce the appearance of scars. The manufacturer of Biodermis Silicone Sheet does not give a full list of ingredients but states that one of the ingredients listed is silicone. Our review staff has found that scar treatment products that do not contain 100% silicone may actually dilute the effect of the scar treatment product.

The manufacturer of Biodermis Silicone Sheet states that one sheet can be worn for up to 24 hours before cleaning and can last for up to two weeks. If not cleaned properly, some customers may experience a rash and/or irritation to their skin.

Instructions for Biodermis Silicone Sheet: 

According to the manufacturer, wash both scar and hands. Open the non-sterile pouch. The gel sheet is covered on both sides by a plastic film. Remove both sides of plastic prior to use. The gel sheet may be cut into smaller pieces using scissors or a scalpel. Once you have determined the appropriate size of sheeting to use, apply tacky side to the scar. The gel sheeting should fully cover the scar and extend ¼ inch all the way around the scar border. The exposed surface of the gel sheeting may be covered with surgical tape or bandage to help hold in place and to prevent sticking to other surfaces.

Xeragel Review:

Xeragel reviews done by our review staff have found that Xeragel is made with 100% silicone and is a gel based product. It has been found that scar treatment products made with silicone will work faster to reduce the appearance of scars better than products that contain other ingredients. The manufacturer states that Xeragel may work best on facial scars but can be used on other small scarred areas as well. Our staff was unable to determine how soon before results will show but found that a tube of Xeragel is said to last for up to three weeks. This could be expensive for some customers if an additional tube is needed to get results.

Derma E Review:

Derma E reviews done by our research staff have found that Derma E is said to help reduce the appearance of scars such as old and new scars, surgery scars and even keloid scars. Some customer that used Derma E found that when using it on acne scars it would actually cause their skin to break out. Derma E is NOT made of 100% silicone and may not be as effective as other scar treatment products on the market that use 100% silicone. Derma E is said to take up to 6 months for results to show. This could be expensive for some customers if an additional jar is needed to get results.

Cosmolara Scar and Stretch Mark Cream Review:

Cosmolara Scar and Stretch Mark Cream reviews done by our research staff have found that Cosmolara Scar and Stretch Mark Cream contain ingredients other than silicone. It has been proven that scar treatment products that are not 100% silicone may actually dilute the scar product and may cause it to not be as effective. Our review staff was unable to find much information from the manufacturer as to how well Cosmolara Scar and Stretch Mark Cream will work or if it has been formulated for both adults and children.  Our staff was also unable to determine how well Cosmolara Scar and Stretch Mark Cream will work on all types of scars including keloid scars.

Our review staff has compared Cosmolra Scar and Stretch Mark Cream to other scar treatment products on the market and found that there are others that contain 100% silicone and are more cost effective.

Belli Motherhood Review:

Belli Motherhood reviews done by our research staff has found that Belli Motherhood is made up of silicone. However, Belli Motherhood also contains Vitamin E which could dilute the effectiveness from the silicone and cause the healing process to take longer. Some customers found that after applying Belli Motherhood it would leave a sticky residue on their skin.

Our review staff has found that Belli Motherhood may have been discontinued by the manufacturer. The manufacturer does not give any information on Belli Motherhood and states that it is out of stock. Our review staff has was unable to determine how soon before results will show or how long a tube of Belli Motherhood will last. Our review staff has compared Belli Motherhood to other scar treatment products on the market and found that there are others that will help reduce the appearance of all types of scars including keloid scars, give complete information from the manufacturer and can show positive results in just 90 days.

Avosil Review:

Avosil reviews done by our research staff have found that Avosil is a gel based scar treatment product that works best at helping to minimize the appearance from surgery scars and trauma scars. The manufacturer does not give a full list of ingredients but does not contain silicone as part of its ingredients. Avosil is hypoallergenic and works well as a moisturizer while healing the scarred area. Our review staff has found that some customers that used Avosil found that it did work, but they needed to use a lot of ointment to get results. This could be expensive for some customers, with Avosil retailing for up to $96.

Our review staff has compared Avosil to other scar treatment products on the market and found that there are others that contain 100%, can give positive results without a sticky residue and does not contain any Parabens.

AvoGel Review:

AvoGel reviews done by our research staff have found that AvoGel has been formulated to minimize the appearance of old and new scars, keloid scars, burn scars and surgery scars. AvoGel comes in sheets and is applied directly to the scarred area. The AvoGel sheets can be cut to fit the area of the scar and can be worn for NO more than 18 hours. The manufacturer recommends that customers use AvoGel in conjunction with an ointment to help with the healing process.

Our review staff was unable to find a list of ingredients for AvoGel, but the manufacturer does state that AvoGel is a water based scar treatment that does NOT contain silicone. We have found that scar treatment products that are made with silicone are more effective in the healing process.

Ingredients for AvoGel:

Sterile adhesive water-containing polymer mesh (like a sponge) designed for scar therapy. Contains NO silicone

Instructions for AvoGel:

According to the manufacturer, gently press the adhesive side over the scar so it fits firmly over the contours of the scar. Make sure the edges extend one half of an inch beyond the scar border. Netting, gauze, cloth bandages, stretch or pressure garments may be worn over it to keep it in place.

AvoGel Conclusion:

Our research staff has concluded that AvoGel does not contain silicone and is applied on the skin to be used for no more than 18 hours and should be disposed of after a few days of using AvoGel. Purchasing additional sheets could be expensive for some customers. Our review staff has compared AvoGel to other scar treatment products on the market and found that there are others that give a list of ingredients and contain silicone to help reduce the chances of redness and/or irritation.

Pro-Sil Review:

Pro-Sil reviews done by our research staff have found that Pro-Sil is made of 100% silicone and does not have any added ingredients that may slow down the healing process. Pro-Sil is marketed to help minimize the appearance of any type of scar. Pro-Sil is best used on small to medium sized scars and should not be used on large scars. The manufacturer of Pro-Sil does not state how soon before results will show but does claim that once the customers sees that Pro-Sil has stopped working they should discontinue use. Pro-Sil is not a permanent solution for reducing the appearance of scars.

Pro-Sil Conclusion:

Our research staff has concluded that Pro-Sil may work well for some customers, but may not be a permanent solution in reducing the appearance of scars. Pro-Sil does come in a convenient and easy to carry glide on stick. However, Pro-Sil compared to other scar treatment products on the market may not be the most cost effective solution.
